The Common Quilt Blocks puzzle is every bit delightful as it looks. It is not only attractive to Quilters, it's actually very common among jigsaw puzzlers. Here's my short list of tips.

  • By sorting the various colours first, then assembling the most obvious colours, like blues, pinks and brightest yellows, that will eliminate a good portion of the pieces. 
  • Lining those sections on the board into their general area also helps. Because there are so many different patches, a good majority can be assembled according to their pattern. 
  • Even putting two to three pieces together in clusters will assist with the assembling as the patches start to come together. 
  • Out sorting the pieces that have 'creamy border' on them will also help with lining up the different colours and pattens. 
  • And of course, the more pieces laid into position on the board means less pieces to look through in the box or on the table.

Common Quilt Blocks Puzzle Assembly

I did my usual sorting routine.

  1. Sorting to locate all  the outside border pieces, while....
  2. Placing the pieces into the 'general-color' layout onto the Grateful House puzzle trays. These trays are 14" x 10" in a pack of 8. I can layout all the pieces easily IF I use the lid for the edge pieces. This example is using the Cobble Hill Brand puzzle at 1000 pieces and puzzle Size is 26.625" x 19.25".

The border went together quite easily on the Common Quilt Blocks puzzle. I started with the reds and pink patterns....then as I moved along, I did this one is patches like several mini puzzles. As I completed a square I place it into position on the board. Eventually all the patches were on the board so I only had the inside frames to complete.

Seeing the close up sections below, there is little text titles for each pattern quilt block. Of course there were many pretty colorful patterns as quilt patterns get. This puzzle reminds me of my oldest sister as she does extremely fine quilting.....I do not have the patience to do such finesse work.
