I love the soft colours on this Country Diary Quilt puzzle and it's a beauty once you see it completed on your table. The Diary of an Edwardian Lady originated by Edith Blackwell Holden and Cobble Hill has made a series of puzzles which you can see below. |

I decided not to do my usual sorting routine with this one as there was just not enough main colours to clump together. So I just laid them out onto the foam boards as I sorted out the border pieces. As you can see to the right, these puzzles come with a very nice size poster almost the same size as the box. |
I didn't seem to have any problem with the border. Following along with the image, the colour quilt edge pieces really helped it along. I continued along with picking out some of the 'bigger' bird/nest/butterflies/rabbits but they were not very big areas. |
I figured the next best strategy would be to assemble the quilt colours. I chose the most outstanding colours that were solid colour pieces. That's when things started to really slow down after that. As you can see in the image below, there is barely about 1/3 completed and that was 8 hours into my puzzle routine. The next 8 hours was slow pickings of matching up the various quilt colours. The pattern of the colours and the pastel colours presented the challenge.
I have to admit, the Country Diary Quit puzzle gave me a challenge but not nearly as difficult as some puzzle images that I have assembled in the past so it's certainly doable. That said, the other four Country Diary puzzles I have assembled were not this tricky.
The following exert is taken from Wikipedia followed by some beautiful close up images on the puzzle.
"Edith Blackwell Holden (26 September 1871 – 15 March 1920) was a British artist and art teacher. She was born in Kings Norton, Birmingham.[1] She became famous following the posthumous publication of her Nature Notes for 1906, in facsimile form, as the book The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady in 1977, which was an enormous publishing success. These, and her life story, were later the subject of a television dramatization."
