The Van Gogh Puzzle Assembly

I did my usual sorting routine.

  1. Sorting to locate all  the outside border pieces, while....
  2. Placing the pieces into the 'general-color' piles.
  3. Then I carried on with a second round of sorting (similar colors sorted by shades/patterns) while placing the pieces flat out on the poster boards.

The border went together quickly especially with the thick orange bottom row pieces. There is printed text (numbers) along the bottom giving a time line of the Van Gogh puzzle image artwork. The numbers are in big font with the light yellow dots to assist with the assembly of the bottom row too.

While sorting, I found the colors to be quite definitive as you can see on one of the boards, Those chunks of colors where assembled first. So the yellows, all the bluish colors and blacks were assembled quite quickly. That's when I got the sense of addiction as I did not want to stop even to take a work-in-progress photo - I could tell this was going to be fun!

As I continued the Van Gogh puzzle, the pieces seemed to be flying off the board into their respective place. And I was really enjoying seeing this one come together. I have seen several of these collaged images on separate puzzle images and companies which is what attracted me to review this one. I have shared 6 closeups images below. You can see very clearly the familiar artworks. Along the bottom of the puzzle is a time line with some background details.

Comments on the Van Gogh Puzzle

The Cobble Hills Puzzle Company has a winner here! The Van Gogh Puzzle is one of my fastest collage type assemblies and the fact that it has the 'addiction' affect just increased the fun. I completed this one in about 9 hours. The collage style image is familiar to me as I have assembled similar ones like the Pink Flowers and Blue Flowers which are real hits!!

I used the Puzzle Scoop on the Van Gogh puzzle

The Puzzle Scoop was introduced to me by Ceaco puzzles. I had never heard of this nifty little tool before and was pleased to give it a try. I used it during the assembly of the Van Gogh puzzle.  You can see in the images below there are several pieces that have text on them so the light and magnifying glass were extremely useful. I have to admit, I am really impressed with the Puzzle Scoop and every puzzler should have one with their puzzle collection.

I even added the Battery Replacement on the back of the  Puzzle Scoop wrapper so you are aware that the LED light will need the battery replaced should you leave the light on by accident ;)
