The Apple Picking jigsaw puzzle by Lang Brand has really good quality pieces with random cuts and a matte-type feel to the finish of the pieces. The image is good and clear. The artwork is very good in details - I like paintings that I cannot really see brush strokes. I really liked the rounded corners too which is not common with jigsaw puzzles. The image reminds me of the old country scenes in Southern Ontario Canada where the Mennonites supplied to the markets their fresh farm goods.
Now it appears that the Company, Lang has rebranded themselves with new packaging and Artists. So here is a similar harvest theme you may like. Amazon Link

Pieces: 500
Size: 18 x 24"
I did my usual sorting routine.

I started the image at the bottom horses, roads and fences. Then I worked the buildings and farm animals. Lastly I saved the sky for the end. As usual, blue gives me the most grief and it took just about as long to complete the blue as it did the rest of the puzzle. Total time was around 6 hours.
Besides being a thrift store purchase for $2.00, all 500 pieces were there - BONUS! Hubby actually bought this one for me. He was intrigued by the lid as am. I was pleased to see how the jigsaw puzzle company went the extra step to accommodate the User with the convenience of a box lid that doubles for a puzzle stand to view the puzzle image. I really appreciated that. |
I have added this note after a Group member reminded me. The lid does not stay closed by itself of course - that being the drawback with a 'tent-top' as she perfectly described it. So you must be mindful to keep the jigsaw puzzle pieces in a sealed bag and/or tape the box closed if you do not intend to assemble it again too soon. That makes me feel extra lucky that all the pieces were still included.....maybe it was the 'trust in the puzzle dust' powers at work here ;)
Of course I was really delighted with this jigsaw puzzle experience and would highly recommend this Lang brand. Sadly it does not seem to be a very common brand even though they are USA based. |
