This is a review for the Standout puzzle by Amy Frank titled In Emerald Water on the left side of the above image.

First to mention the overall quality rating of Standout Puzzles in general. The Canadian company is located in British Columbia, Canada. They contacted me to offer sending their puzzles for assembling and review.

I was pleasantly surprised how quickly they arrived.

As you can see in the image above, each puzzle comes packaged in a solid tube container. The puzzle also comes with 5 extra pieces for the Puzzler to throw into the mix just to spice up the challenge.

The puzzles are sealed nicely in a plastic bag in the inside, however, you will need a spare box for those who sort through the 'sand-puzzle' box.

Also, (shown below) which is very important, the quality of the cut is really good. It certainly is comparable to other major brands. Each puzzle canister has an information sheet with the image (an acceptable size) and details of the artist with a brief bio.

I did my usual sorting routine.

  1. Sorting to locate all  the outside border pieces, while....
  2. Placing the pieces into the 'general-color' piles.
  3. Then I carried on with a second round of sorting (similar colors sorted by shades/patterns) while placing the pieces flat out on the poster boards.

Using the image on the information sheet, I started with the yellows and greens first. I moved onto the large sea creature in pinks/purples next. I worked along the top for the water, then the 'bubbles' and finally the blacks/whites.

This one certainly was tricky in did not need the extra 5 pieces to challenge me. It was delightful to work this 750 piece. It's been a while since I have. IF this puzzle as 2 or 3000 pieces it would be really challenging BUT would look fantastic.

I was pleasantly surprised with the results - it looks much better than in the image on the canister and my photo below - the colors are actually brighter.

Overall the assembling experience was enjoyable. The images that Standout Puzzles uses are quite unique in the artist series being their chosen brand and style. The pieces are cut in a mixed shaped but not outstanding random cuts like others. The specialized Artist's the company uses to brand their line of puzzles puts the price of the puzzles on the higher end.
