You should be able to tell where I am right now. Whenever I get to visit my sweet mom is my idea of heaven! We had a family gathering over the weekend and then got distracted by the Olympics, but we finally got some puzzle time yesterday. Woohoo!

Mom chose to start with this fun one, which made me very happy. I have wanted this puzzle forever, but I kept skipping over it for others whenever I was buying puzzles. I can be quite fickle when it comes to my puzzles, lol. Finally, this one got its chance. As a reward for patiently waiting for me to add it to my collection, it jumped to my puzzle table ahead of hundreds of other puzzles.

As normal, we spread all of the pieces out on Mom’s dining room table, putting all edge pieces off to the side. Mom decided to start with the pirate ship clock up in the upper left corner. Meanwhile, the beautiful blues were calling my name. Mom quickly finished her ship and moved on to the cuckoo clock. I started working on the bottom left quarter of the puzzle, but quickly realized that Mom was going to force me to give up my methodical approach. I just embraced her joyful way of jumping to the next thing that catches her attention.

Mom was having such a great time putting this one together that I eventually took on the role of sorter, creating piles of pieces for her to assemble. I finished the border (before this, we were putting in edge pieces when working on sections close to the border) and then started putting some of the miscellaneous background pieces into place. By now, I was getting pretty tired and went up to bed. I thought that Mom was reading before coming up to bed, but I was not surprised to come downstairs this morning to find a completed puzzle! Way to go, Mom!!

Now, I have to explain something because Mom was in her nightie all day (Shhh! Don’t tell anyone!). It was almost 90° out yesterday, and we had no plans to go outside. It was nice and cool inside, and Mom simply never went upstairs to get dressed. I, on the other hand, was dressed for the day in case my pup was interested in going outside. (I included a few photos of Lexie for added cuteness!) However, I have a problem with my bangs being too long and was getting annoyed with them. My solution was immortalized by Mom snapping a rare picture of me, showing my bangs held into place by a convenient chip clip!

Now, on to the nitty gritty of the puzzle. This is a 1000 piece Cobble Hill puzzle titled “Cuckoo and Friends”. It is an original creation from the Cobble Hill artistic department, with Jo-Ann Richards taking the actual photograph. The puzzle is random cut, with a beautiful linen finish on the pieces. The artwork has been vibrantly recreated on the puzzle, and a poster was included for our benefit. There were no cut issues, no missing pieces, and virtually no puzzle dust. This is a puzzle that I would be very happy to assemble again, and I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys a fun puzzle.
