Hello, my sweet puzzle friends. This is going to be a long post, so get comfortable. I only have one puzzle to share with you this visit, and I only got to share two puzzles with you during my visit last month. I expected to share a lot more, especially since we had a third puzzler with us, even though my hubby is not as motivated as we are to work on a puzzle from beginning to end.

My sweet husband, as it turned out, provided a perfect distraction to our anticipated puzzling sessions. He found a house. Actually, he found a couple of houses in my mom’s area, but one of them had us all losing sleep that night with visions of what could be. We had made arrangements to tour the one magical house,  and even though it had a lot of updating needed, we looked past the peeling wallpaper, dingy painted walls, yellowed linoleum floor, and saw a puzzler’s nirvana. The most glorious puzzle room that I could ever imagine! One of my friends pointed out that to most people, it would be called a “library”. Ridiculous, right? I could already see all of my treasures filling those shelves, could already picture where we would set up our puzzle table for the best lighting, and knew that Mom and I would practically live in that room!

But…..our hopes were shattered when it was reported that an offer was accepted on that perfect house before we could get prequalified to buy it. Rats! But now that we were even entertaining the possibility of moving up to Rochester, Minnesota, and finally having a house large enough to have room for my husband and me, our son (if he chooses to join us), and my mom, we were not ready to give up our dream. We arranged to tour a few other houses, but one managed to capture my heart, and I was not going to lose that house! It has 5 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a nice deck, and a park directly behind the house. We made the decision quickly and made an offer on the house.

I will cut to the end. We are closing on July 21st, and moving in shortly after that. We were not planning to buy a house when we drove up to my mom’s last month, but that’s exactly what we did over a short 48 hour period. So our puzzling took a back seat for the moment while we planned and worked on getting all of our ducks in a row. God willing, you will see regular posts of puzzling with my mom, although it will take us a bit of time to get settled in. I will include some photos of our new house after the puzzle photos, as well as the puzzle room that got away at the very end.

Now it’s time to talk about this gorgeous puzzle. I saw it for the first time when a friend of mine posted a photo of it, and I knew that I would have to have it. I ordered it from a company in Germany and received it in a surprisingly short amount of time. I was thrilled when Mom decided that this would be the one puzzle that we would work on.

As usual, I let Mom decide where she wanted to start. She was drawn to the yellow halo or moon behind Freya, so I told Mom that she should do all of the main figure and I would do the background parts. I started with the flowers on the bottom of the puzzle and worked my up to the top. Mom started her bit at the top and worked her way down. Eventually, we put our parts together and worked on filling in any empty spots before Mom finished Freya’s elaborate dress.

This was the first time that I have done this brand, and I enjoyed working on it. The grid cut pieces have a nice linen finish. The artwork was beautifully printed and the box image was adequate as a reference point with no marketing things covering up the artwork. There was no poster included, but it was unnecessary. There were no cut issues or damaged pieces, no puzzle dust, and no missing pieces. A piece or two were initially put in the wrong spot, but a closer examination showed when a piece was wrong. The fit was okay, but we did need to use some kind of support device to pick up and move sections into place. We both have a puzzle spatula, but just ended up using a piece of cardboard. I will definitely look forward to doing more from this brand.

The box says that the brand name is Deico Games and is a Romanian company. I don’t know if this is the same company that is known by the name Djeco, but I think that they might be two different companies. I also don’t know if Freya is supposed to be a Norse goddess or just a maiden walking through the woods, but I think that she is beautiful!
