Mom’s first choice for our puzzling journey was this doozy! What a fun puzzle to do! Mom says “What an eye-crosser!” You do need either great closeup vision or a handy magnifier. Many of the patterns seem to repeat, but there are slight differences when you look closely at the designs. I want to mention that Mom got dressed right before we started and she brushed her hair for her first glamor shots, lol. I reminded her that she would feature prominently in my photos and that I had no problem showing her pjs, but she decided to be properly attired. I am sure that you will eventually see her in one of her nighties. (I am such an imp to be tattling on my mom! But seriously, if I didn’t have to take Lexie for a walk outside, I might live in my jammies.)

I always look forward to doing Piatnik puzzles because they have such wonderful pieces. They are deliciously sturdy grid cut pieces with a great linen finish and practically zero puzzle dust. There were no cut issues or missing pieces. The pieces might fit in more than one spot if you aren’t careful, but you know it when they snap into their rightful home. The fit is nice, but we did need to put some of Mom’s junk mail to good use when picking up a completed section.

I really did try to puzzle as freely as Mom, but my methodical self quickly took over, preferring to work on an adjoining square next. If you look at the whole image, you will see that the bottom half has much more intricate designs with tighter lines and more detail to almost overwhelm you. The top half gives your eyes and brain a bit of a break, offering slightly more open or less chaotic designs. These are refrigerator magnets, but they sure remind me of Spanish tiles.

We started this puzzle at 2:00 yesterday afternoon, and Mom stayed up after I went to bed to put in the last 100 pieces or so. We did take a break to eat supper and to watch the Green Bay Packers game, and I went to bed about 11:30ish, so I figure that it took us approximately 6-7 hours from start to finish. My last photo of Mom working on the puzzle was taken at 11:09 p.m.

I would highly recommend this puzzle to anyone, although given the intricate designs, it might take a novice puzzler longer than normal to assemble this one. I would very strongly recommend having a nice crafting magnifier, maybe even one that lights up. Otherwise, I would recommend frequent breaks to avoid eye strain.
