My Confident Puzzler Difficulty Rating: Side 1 - Medium, Side 2 - Easier

There seems to be no title for these, so for fun I’ll call them Party Animals. Side 1 is high gloss, side 2 is matte, printed on the typical Galison white paper backing. I actually pieced together side 2 and flipped it over to photograph side one. (Reasons to follow)

Quality: Two minuses - loose piece fit and some pealing / damaged pieces on side 2. Otherwise pretty nice. The attractive, medium size box is sturdy and features a wrap around close up of side 1. A small pic of each image is on the box bottom. Inside is a sealed bag of pieces, a 2 sided letter size poster and a real postcard of each image. Color match of all images to the solid, larger sized pieces was good. There were no missing pieces.

Getting started: Find the edge pieces and sort by color. Why did I opt for side two? I actually preferred the overall illustration and particularly the giraffe’s perspective in it. The elephant’s stance seemed awkward, there was the slightest indication of the rear right leg, at first glance, the right ear looked cut off, and for best visual impact, the elephant should have been larger relative to the greenery. I knew the side 2 sorting would take more time, but the construction would probably be easier (call me lazy.) Side one sort would be sky, elephant, walkway, greenery with balloons, and plain greenery, 5 items. My side 2 sort included sky, greenery, balloons, large and small umbrella parts, water, pool deck, lounges, grass, bush, wall, tree trunks, and the giraffe, 12 items.

Construction: I was absolutely correct! Piecing together side two offered delightfully steady progress. I built the frame first. The giraffe and large center greenery were left

for the end, otherwise I built the puzzle up from the bottom. I laid out each sort by shape and they all fell into place piece by piece. So much fun!

Final thoughts: Watching YouTube puzzlers, I’ve seen some complain about pieces with white paper backing. Yes, the damaged pieces on this one were a detriment to the finished image, but not noticeable enough to ruin the puzzling process. I’ve enjoyed several Galison puzzles. Checking back, I had done the shiny side of the 2 sided ones. For those and single sided ones, I had no issues keeping me from purchasing more. I recommend checking out their varied selection.

My grades: Quality, B+, Fun Factor A+
