Lures Puzzle - Lures of Long Ago

The Springbok Lures of Long Ago is a delightful experience that went together smoothly. This being a Thrift store purchase for .50 cents, I am very pleased all the pieces are available.

Who would have thought this Lures puzzle could look so good and being interesting. Personally, I have never been into fishing although my Dad sure enjoyed it. I do recall seeing tackle boxes back in the day and thinking 'these are rather cute colourful little gadgets'. I also recall how sharp those hooks are. That said, the whole fishing tackle market is huge but chances are rare you'll see any of these vintage Lures out there. As an adult,  I it interesting how these Lures all have names indicating there is a lot more to fishing with these items. This would make a terrific jigsaw puzzle on the wall of a sporting and/or fishing tackle store.

Lures Puzzle Assembly

I did my usual sorting routine.

  1. Sorting to locate all  the outside border pieces, while....
  2. Placing the pieces into the 'general-color' piles.
  3. Then I carried on with a second round of sorting (similar colors sorted by shades/patterns) while placing the pieces flat out on the poster boards.

The border went together fairly easy on this Lures puzzle so it was only a matter of piecing together the coloured fishing Lures. I started with the most prominent colours being yellow, red and greens. I just continued to build the Lures and then the text that goes with them. The steely hooks were a little testy but the puzzle shapes helped with that.

Lures Puzzle Comments...

The Springbok Lures puzzle - Lures of Long Ago is a delightful experience that went together smoothly and in great time. This being a Thrift store purchase for .50 cents, I am very pleased all the pieces are available which is always like a little bonus. The Springbok brand cut is quite random and remains to be one of the thickest board material I have assembled. That thickness can sometimes make it difficult to press the pieces into place as I have heard from those in the puzzle Groups. I have even heard from those with sensitive hands cannot do this Brand due to that thickness.

I have also had the pleasure of doing the Jello puzzle and Busy Bloom puzzle among many more.

Take a look at the lovely array of Vintage Lures with the Year dated in the following close up photos - super fun!!!!
