For our second puzzle, Mom chose this Aimee Stewart design. This is the fifth puzzle that Mom has done of Aimee’s designs. We ran some errands yesterday and *might* have gone to a Hallmark and Target store where I added two more puzzles to my stash, while Mom was happy to get just one. I know, I know. I will have to have a talk with her, but she does have limited space. Unfortunately, by the time we got home, our internet and cable were down. Fortunately, puzzling is old school, needing only a flat surface and a decent light. The cable and WiFi were back on right before we went to bed, of course. Lol

As an avid tea drinker, Mom chose to start with the cast iron tea kettle in the far bottom left corner, while my eye was drawn to the squirrel made out of money. Mom quickly got her larger object assembled much faster than I did, but I wasn’t worried.

From there, Mom went after that Fun With Paper Folding book in the center and the zebra while I moved on to the beautiful Koi fish and background folding instruction sheet before moving my way towards the left side of the bottom areas. Mom tackled the ruler and then the other book in the upper right corner before working her way across to the upper left side of the top half.

I was thrilled to be able to assemble Miso, Aimee’s beloved Shina Inu. I actually didn’t have too much difficulty getting the wood grain background done, and eventually moved Mom’s teapot into place. I ended up with the pink elephant before finishing up with the potted plant in the upper left corner, leaving the rest of the puzzle for Mom to finish.

I was spending time with Lexie while Mom kept puzzling, when she told me that she was done but we were missing three pieces from our brand new puzzle. Eek! We searched everywhere under the dining room table, each finding one piece. Knowing how pieces can mysteriously travel, I pushed the puzzle aside in case we found the last missing piece.

At this point, I took Lexie for a walk and then decided to get something cold to drink from the fridge. There, all alone on the kitchen floor was the missing piece! Woohoo! Our puzzle was complete!

This puzzle had nice semigloss pieces in a modified grid cut. If you have never done a Buffalo Games puzzle, they have a funky cut where two pieces simply slide together and don’t fully interlock until you attach one or two more pieces. This is a unique cut that they have used for years, but those pieces are few in number. I took a closeup of this cut to show you what I am talking about.

The thing is, even with these different cuts, the fit is good enough to pick up completed sections to check the backside if you want to verify if a piece really goes there. I saw Mom doing this, but she put it down before I could get my cell phone camera turned on. She obliged me in recreating the move so that I could show you. There were no cut issues, no missing pieces, and little-to-no puzzle dust.

I would recommend this puzzle to anyone. There are easy parts and challenging parts, but this is a very doable puzzle. Mom and I both enjoyed working on this one. Buffalo includes a poster in their puzzles, which is always nice when you puzzle with a partner. Oh, and Mom never did get dressed today, so please ignore her nightie in the second puzzle session!
