Update: Peanuts Cast jigsaw puzzle border complete

I had read that some puzzlers got a poster with this one but I didn't. It does not say on the box that there is a poster but this particular person said she got 2 posters.  The image of the front of the box does not show the edge pieces clearly however on the back of the box, the 'actual' image is there. Only problem with that is the image is only approximately 7"x 5". That's pretty small :(

So I located an image online and downloaded it to my laptop. No I have a laptop sitting on my puzzle board so I can enlarge the image so it's visible to see a lot of small details  - you can see there are a lot of small details here.

That said, once I completed the border, you can see in the image below how well the center sections meet - or NOT. I have now seen other ones assembled and their edges are even. It looks like in my case, I have 2-1500 piece cuts.

This is rather disappointing because this is a keeper and now it will be on the wall with it's uneven edge. You can see I have paid over $50 with tax which is a pretty penny for a puzzle. I don't usually spend that kind of money on a puzzle unless it's pretty special.

I may just have to do a contact to Aquarius to let them see what I am dealing with :(

PeanutsCast Jigsaw Puzzle Assembly

I finally got the sorting done on the 3000 piece Peanuts Cast puzzle. It did take roughly 3 hours but that is without a 'clean' layout. A clean layout is laying out every single piece flat beside each other. But because this is 3000 pieces and not near enough 'distinctive' areas, there is not much sense in sorting into the piles more than as shown below.

There are a few colours I chose to single out as mentioned on previous posts but outside of that, I just laid out the pieces onto 6 foam boards. That still averages about 500 pieces per board IF laid out flat. It's also a good gage to use to determine how many pieces you have left to assemble. If you can get your pieces down to 2 boards laid out flat beside each other then it's pretty fair to say you have about 1000 pieces left to assemble. Eventually I will get the large piles dwindled down to being laid out flat.

Also in the images below, you will see the small amount of 'tolerable' puzzle dust (also known as puzzle poop) and one piece almost has a broken 'leg'.  I have the edge pieces on one board but it sure does not seem to be near enough - it likely will be though as it usually is.

I separated pieces that have 'text/letters' as a possible starting place to start building around. AND I have located a pre-fabbed puzzle board which is slightly bigger than this 32"x45" size puzzle.  Awesome!

By pre-fabbed, I mean, I had cut this puzzle board to custom size a different puzzle and saved it for future use - well the future is now! It is actually 3 foam boards that I used clear wide packing tape onto the back. There's 2.5 boards taped together on the back. The other half board is cut in half to fit across the top of the 2.5 boards and taped to the back. I also reinforced the back seams with strips of foam boards. This makes it firm enough to be light, yet movable.

Next up - the boarder! Stayed tuned!

This is work-in-progress number 3 and at this point I am feeling real achievement but it did take quite a bit of time to get this far. You can see I am barely at the half way mark and I feel like I am not over the 'hump' yet.

This is my work-in-progress number 5.  Sorry for the glare but the puzzle is assembled on a high table and I cannot move the board so I have to stand on a stepping stool plus on my toes eek!  At this stage, I am basically down to the faces. As you can see there are many facial color pieces to assemble and yes, it was very challenging. I did not ever feel like I was over the hump but I sure did get a load of therapy!

The following are the last approximately 400 pieces being mostly facial colors. I located the image of this same puzzle with the exact same cut on the web. I downloaded it and save it to my desktop. When I was really stuck, I used the magnifying on the computer screen to enlarge the area I was working on to locate the  shapes of the pieces. I refer to this tactic as 'work smarter, not harder'.  It certainly helped and did speed up the process mildly but timing was not an issue as much as getting annoyed with locating pieces.

Who was the teacher in the Charlie Brown cartoon?

Miss Othmar - her voice is actually made by a musical instrument.

Miss Othmar is often assumed to be Charlie Brown's teacher. In a strip from the mid-1960s, it is revealed that Charlie Brown's teacher's name is "Mrs. Donovan". However, Charlie Brown sometimes shows up in Miss Othmar's classroom (usually sitting behind Linus) in strips from the late 1960s onwards.

In one series of strips, Miss Othmar continually selects Charlie Brown to pound the chalkboard erasers, filling his lungs with so much chalk dust that he exhales it for days afterward.
