My Confident Puzzler Difficulty Rating: at least Medium

This illustration is so me, not that I could still wear those shoes! At least medium — okay, it’s only 500 pieces, but parts of it were rather tricky. At best it did require more time and concentration, starting with the sorting! I mention the artist because these premium priced puzzles support independent artists, and I so admire her style. I do hate to admonish anything about this puzzle given how much I love the image, and actually enjoying putting it together, but there were some quality issues.

Quality: Odd, but loose piece fit only on the right side. At first I thought I could pick it up - a bad decision. The illustration is on a slip sleeve around the very compact sturdy box, but it is none too big. Inside the draw style box is a small tube of puzzle glue and a glue spreader, a velvet bag of puzzle pieces, and a postcard size card of the artwork smaller than the one on the sleeve. Since my style is to sort beyond color to individual areas and objects, the provided pictures made it very difficult to distinguish details. There were some acceptable things - no puzzle dust, no false fits. The pieces have low sheen. They were solid, none were together uncut, none were missing.

Getting started: Find the edge pieces and sort by color. I did mange to sort skin tones, shoe mesh, black, shades of the pavement and green and yellow foliage. Buildings 1, 2, 3, 4 — well, just sort of sorted those. The car - the windows ended in building 1 sort, the body, in building 4 sort. Hmm — are those tires? Pieces were set aside; I had guessed that right!

Construction: I built the frame and filled in the legs. The rest was more work, but as I said, I was having fun with it. I worked in from the frame, some foliage, some of all that tricky blue with windows. I switched to piecing the different light and dark areas of the pavement. The shadow under the shoe, the backs of the heels, the rows of shoe grommets. Eventually it came together. Not by plan, parts of the shoes and pavement came last. It was complete. The proportions in this painting are fantastic! It is absolutely stunning!!!

Final thoughts: This is the only JIGGY puzzle I own. I think it’s possible there was a first time discount or some sale moment. I don’t mention actual prices, but trust me on pricey, and this puzzle is from their less expensive Studio Collection. This is a “fancy” company, their even more premium puzzles come in a glass jar. Even the packaging for PUMP is fancy.

It is very nice that part of one’s investment goes to the artist. There is a lot of talent shown in their puzzle selections. Still, it is a puzzle. I didn’t see that the pieces were thicker, that the print quality was extraordinary, that the illustrations were terribly helpful, that the fit even approached pick up tight. I just loved the artwork - all I needed to have fun piecing it together. There is nothing so wrong with the quality to not recommend this company. But I’ve done plenty of puzzles from less “premium” (aka pricey) brands that match up, even surpass this brand as far as quality goes. Just sayin”.

My grades: Quality B+ (relative to “fancy”), Fun Factor A+ (relative to the art I adored)
