Vintage Typewriter Puzzle Assembly

I did my usual sorting routine.

  1. Sorting to locate all  the outside border pieces, while....
  2. Placing the pieces into the 'general-color' piles.
  3. Then I carried on with a second round of sorting (similar colors sorted by shades/patterns) while placing the pieces flat out on the poster boards.

This Galison Vintage Typewriter puzzle comes with a poster. I knew the border would be testy but I gave it a try anyway. As you can see below, I just places as many pieces as I could into the general area. Some of the random cut pieces are very tiny and I feared I would loose one. Luckily that did not happen.

First I did the very familiar Remington sign which was the easiest part of the puzzle...each area after that would get more tricky which I anticipated with these dark colors.  So the next lightest color would be the lighter blues around the bottom of the keyboard and the keys along the sides. I moved onto the upper letter carriage area and down to the lower letter keys and they were tricky.

The typewriter return carriage proved to be the most challenging and biggest test but since this was a puzzle I REALLY wanted I knew I had to make it work.

My normal speed for a 750 piece jigsaw puzzle would be about 8 hours but since this was a bit of a trickster with the carriage, boarder and keys, it did take about 10 hours to assemble. However, it was well worth the finished picture which is now admired on my wall :)

The following are some of the close up images displaying the quality cut of the pieces and the style of the random type cut. I am really impressed with the image quality and the size of the over all puzzle...of course it is bigger than the real Remington typewriter.

Here is a photo I found on the internet of a real Remington typewriter and it states the machine is a 1927 version. These typewriters sell for over $100 US dollars.

Vintage Typewriter Puzzle Comments

The Galison jigsaw puzzles come with a poster, the pieces are bagged in thicker plastic than most puzzle bags and the box is solid, plus pretty. I really enjoyed this Vintage Typewriter puzzle and several other ones like Vintage Library
