Christmas House Puzzle Assembly

I did my usual sorting routine.

  1. Sorting to locate all  the outside border pieces, while....
  2. Placing the pieces into the 'general-color' piles.
  3. Then I carried on with a second round of sorting (similar colors sorted by shades/patterns) while placing the pieces flat out on the poster boards.

To assist assembling this jigsaw puzzle border I laid out all the flat edge pieces according to the shapes and colors.

There is dark sky, snow-trees and berry bushes along the border so it was a matter of matching the shapes into position by testing one by one - I find it assembles much faster that way.

To the right is the finished border and you can easily see the main 3 colors described above.

Where to start...upper right corner with the snow-white tree branches and work across to assemble the 3 chimneys. Next, the pink bedroom seemed to be the most outstanding of colors. The Baby's room and Parent's room were worked while the Christmas tree in the living room started to appear. Eventually the brown walls between the room were established with the Dining room and Kitchen were assembled last.

Once the rooms were assembled inside the house I tackled the trees along the bottom and sides of the house outside which left only the snowy roof, Santa and the reindeer within the dark sky.  Once again, the starlight sky was last and fit by checking piece by piece.

So below, I have shared a closeup photo of each room that shows what a very traditional family Christmas could look like and many of the details are familiar to us. I love an image that tells us that kinda story.

Christmas House Puzzle Comments...

The artist, Steve Crisp in the UK is a well established, internationally known, award winning illustrator. I have seen so many wonderful Steve Crisp jigsaw puzzles and a few of which I have done myself. The Christmas House jigsaw puzzle has many versions however I like this one as Santa is (traditionally) on the roof!!!

The finish is on this White Mountain jigsaw puzzle is glossy however the pieces are good and solid and fit very well together. This is my first White Mountain jigsaw puzzle I have assembled so I can see why they are so popular. I do like the shape of the pieces being big and solid however the overall size of 24" x 30" is bigger than the standard foam boards we use so that leads to a bigger board.

I could not get this puzzle here in Canada as it was not listed on the Canadian Amazon. I contacted White Mountain jigsaw puzzles and they told me they do not ship to Canada. I could have paid approximately $75 Canadian to own this one but you might agree that that was not reasonable at all for a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle.

After a while I conceded that, once again, I would not have this one in my Christmas jigsaw puzzle collection which was somewhat a downer for me. Then, BAM!!!! There it was! At my door!!! I was shocked and surprised - a Puzzle Fairy fulfilled my Christmas wish AND sent along another one of my most favorite White Mountain jigsaw puzzles, I Love Canada, that I just NEVER thought I could possibly own! I am just super thrilled I now have both these puzzles and blessed to have a Puzzle Fairy who knows the power of kindness and generosity! My deepest gratitude goes to this most wonderful jigsaw puzzle Fairy in the world!
