I could not get this I Love Canada puzzle here in Canada as it was not listed on the Canadian Amazon. I contacted White Mountain jigsaw puzzles and they told me they do not ship to Canada. I could have paid approximately $75 Canadian to own these 2 but you might agree that that was not reasonable at all for a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. Read more about this below... |
After a while I conceded that, once again, I would not have the Christmas House puzzle in my Christmas jigsaw puzzle collection which was somewhat a downer for me. Then, BAM!!!! There it was! At my door!!! I was shocked and surprised - a Puzzle Fairy fulfilled my Christmas wish AND sent along another one of my most favourite White Mountain jigsaw puzzles that I just NEVER thought I could possibly own - the I Love Canada jigsaw puzzle. I am just super thrilled I now have both these puzzles and blessed to have a Puzzle Fairy who knows the power of kindness and generosity! My deepest gratitude goes to this most wonderful jigsaw puzzle Fairy in the world!

I did my usual sorting routine.
To assist assembling this jigsaw puzzle border I laid out all the flat edge pieces which make up the border as shown at top right side. To the right is the finished border that went together easily enough by following the images on the box cover! The puzzle size is 24" x 30" making the sorting/layout process use 3 foam boards as shown below. The White Mountain jigsaw puzzles also come with a box lid stand which is really quite convenient to use. |
SO much of the puzzle details are familiar to me so it was easy to pick out several small sections at a time to get this one started. The hockey, baseball, chocolate bars, cheezies and Tim Hortons coffee were really easy to pick out so those pieces just flew onto the table. From there I built on the other Canadian items and/or scenes as you can see in my progress images below.
I am fully aware of most of the details in the jigsaw puzzle image and I think the artist, Charlie Girard did terrific artwork in capturing the essence of Canada. According the LinkedIn he has worked at White Mountain jigsaw puzzles for over 8 years and has many wonderful puzzle images to assemble. In fact, you can locate 59 of them right on the White Mountain website!
So take a little closer look at the following images to see the wonderful details of Canada in which we live....how many are you familiar with????
The finish is on this White Mountain jigsaw puzzle is glossy however the pieces are good and solid and fit very well together. This is my second White Mountain jigsaw puzzle I have assembled so I can see why they are so popular. I do like the shape of the pieces being big and solid however the overall size of 24" x 30" is bigger than the standard foam boards we use so that leads to a bigger board.
