Humming Bird Puzzle

This Humming Bird Puzzle by Buffalo jigsaw puzzles was purchased for $2.00 at the local Thrift store. One thing that surprised me was that it was no too challenging like I thought it might be. Most often all the pieces are included however there was 1 escapee from this one....sadly of course.

Now IF pretty and colour is what you are looking for then here it is. And nothing but pure pleasure. At first I thought this was going to be quite challenging but it went surprisingly well. Here's some details I noted;

  • Very sturdy box (I like that - it protects the pieces)
  • The pieces are quality board made with 100% recycled paperboard and with 90% post-consumer content
  • Has a poster to follow
  • Has a box stand
  • There is slight gleam on the pieces 
  • The pattern is consistent with no really odd shaped cuts but still slightly unique
  • It was a medium challenge for 14+ years

You can see how I tried to determine piles of main colours then laid them out onto the poster boards and I would work each bird and flower areas.

Humming Bird Puzzle Assembly...

I did my usual sorting routine.

  1. Sorting to locate all  the outside border pieces, while....
  2. Placing the pieces into the 'general-color' layout onto the Grateful House puzzle trays. These trays are 14" x 10" in a pack of 8. I can layout all the pieces easily IF I use the lid for the edge pieces. This example is using the Cobble Hill Brand puzzle at 1000 pieces and puzzle Size is 26.625" x 19.25".

So not sure where to start, I decided to go with the yellows and blue sky first. Turns out the sky area was the easiest part of the puzzle. Then I worked the pink flowers, purple flowers and bigger butterflies. The Hummingbirds were a little tricky to decipher but certainly not discouraging by any means. Finally the big item details were complete and that basically left the smaller flower areas and greens were last.

I took some real close up photos to show off the brilliant colours. The images are crisp, clear and filled with details. This also means there were no blurred areas.
