I did my usual sorting routine.

  1. Sorting to locate all  the outside border pieces, while....
  2. Placing the pieces into the 'general-color' piles.
  3. Then I carried on with a second round of sorting (similar colors sorted by shades/patterns) while placing the pieces flat out on the poster boards.

The border seemed to go together quite quickly which was a sign - the entire image seemed to just fall into place very quickly. I have to say, this one was easy.

I started with the pinkish clouds at the top, then the Saddle Done, down to the bottom fence, crowd, ferris wheel and buildings.

The Calgary Stampede dates back to the early 1900's and today is a 10 day Rodeo combined Festival. It is a huge tourist attraction to the city every year. The close up images below shares only a few of the highlights.

Painting since his early 20's Eric Dowdle's Folk Art has been selling since 1995. He has won many awards and is well recognized within the jigsaw puzzle world. The quality of board and packaging has maintained the highest of levels.

As you can see I purchased this jigsaw puzzle for only .50 cents at the Thrift Store. I have had really good luck with 'not' missing pieces on a previously loved jigsaw puzzle however that was not the case for this jigsaw puzzle.

But - I did have 2 of the same ( happens) Dowdle Calgary jigsaw puzzles so I thought I would sort through the 2nd Calgary jigsaw puzzle and easily replace the missing piece in the first one - Well....such was not the case.

As you can see in the following image the cuts of the 2nd Calgary jigsaw puzzle are not even remotely close.....Hmmm....I still have a missing piece :(

This makes for a perfect example of why some jigsaw puzzle companies cannot replace a single piece of a jigsaw puzzle if it is bought new and is missing a piece. Pieces do go missing on brand new puzzles. I have experienced it proven by a sealed 2000 piece puzzle with 2 missing.

Not all puzzles are cut at the same factory either and even if the jigsaw puzzle piece is cut slightly different, chances are pretty good it is not going to fit into the 'missing piece puzzle'. You are better off to receive a brand new puzzle and do it again or replace it with a different puzzle altogether.

Sorting through the 2nd Calgary pile looking for the missing piece for the 1st Calgary jigsaw puzzle.
Clearly the cuts are not the same on both puzzles - the images are the same but the cuts are not.

I have done more than a few Dowdle jigsaw puzzles over the years and I have never had a negative experience with them. I do highly recommend trying one.

The above jigsaw puzzle(s) have been added to my Puzzle Hobby Tracker

I am in the process of recording all my past jigsaw puzzles that I still have for my walls and all my current puzzles.
