Tigger Photomosaic Jigsaw Puzzle

Robert Silvers is the inventor of the Photomosaics process and original Artist. I have only ever seen Photomosaics images in the form of jigsaw puzzles by Buffalo Games. By that I mean I have not seen other Brands selling photomosaic jigsaw puzzles but that does not mean there aren't any (it's still a big world out there...). Tigger jigsaw puzzle Amazon link

In the simplest terms a photomosaic is a picture that has been divided into equal sized tiled sections, each of which is replaced with another photograph that matches the target photo.

When viewed at low magnifications, the individual pixels appear as the primary image, while close examination reveals that the image is in fact made up of many hundreds or thousands of smaller images.

Tigger Jigsaw Puzzle Assembly

I assembled this jigsaw puzzle quite some time ago so I am going share what I recall.

I did an extreme sort of the pieces and then assembled the  border. As you can see in the images the border is missing 2 pieces.  That was discouraging but I did carry on in hopes of them showing up later on.

I am a seasoned puzzlers but back then I was not and was not even sure as to how to go about assembling this type of puzzle image. I resorted to assembling the pieces by the piles of colors. Back then I did not lay out all the pieces onto foam boards like I do nowadays.

So I recall managing to getting some formation of Tigger and small sections of the lighter blue-grey areas. I laid these sections onto the puzzle area then continued to put the pieces together and using the Buffalo Games cutting style to assist in the process.

It was really sad to see 4 missing pieces but paying $1.00 for ALL those hours working on it is some consolation but hardly puzzle luck. Fortunately for me, since I have been buying previously loved jigsaw puzzles I have not encountered too many with missing pieces but it does happen - even with sealed puzzles.

As I was completing the puzzle I could see by counting the open spaces versus the number of pieces I had left that the border pieces were not there and there were 2 additional pieces missing.

Tigger Jigsaw Puzzle Comments

First, the quality of Buffalo Games jigsaw puzzles is good enough to call decent and acceptable. You can easily see the grid/ribbon pattern of the pieces so not random cuts.

Also in this  image you can see '4 basic colors' for sorting. I do recall it being very tricky and quite some time to complete.

I do have to admit, the fun in doing photomosaics is seeing the tiny images on each of the puzzle pieces. It was most intriguing and actually amazing to me.

I do not have any close-up photos of this puzzle as it was assembled 20 years ago and is my 3rd oldest puzzle which is still on the wall using the 'no-glue' method.

But, when I do get to doing any one of the following photomosaics jigsaw puzzles in my TO DO List I certainly will be getting some great close-up pics!
