Also the pattern of the piece-cuts are not really THAT outstanding therefore even using the shapes of pieces to assist in the progress is not that helpful. So be alert - I highly recommend the Penguin Plunge Jigsaw Puzzle only for those who like challenges. And if you like the image so much and want to give it a try, then just be prepared to spend some extra time with it. Clearly you can see the quality of the cut-pieces fit so well that it can be held up easily.

 Penguin Plunge Jigsaw Puzzle Assembly

I did my usual sorting routine.

  1. Sorting to locate all  the outside border pieces, while....
  2. Placing the pieces into the 'general-color' layout onto the Grateful House puzzle trays. These trays are 14" x 10" in a pack of 8. I can layout all the pieces easily IF I use the lid for the edge pieces. This example is using the Cobble Hill Brand puzzle at 1000 pieces and puzzle Size is 26.625" x 19.25".

The border was definitely testy but luckily the random shapes were a little helpful. I could tell this was going to be a challenge just by the sorting of the colors. I thought maybe being 500 pieces that I could endure one more challenging puzzle before I start to take on a somewhat easier one but this one is really pushing the limits.

I worked the blue 'lines' in the water first since they were the most distinguished. Unbeknownst to me THAT was the easy part. So I focused on the splashing water area next  because I could see specks on top of the dark colors which was actually the splashing bubbles.

Then I spent a LOT of time on the black-white-dark-green but I knew if I could get past them then what would be left meant mostly black and whites. Those were assembled by using the shapes but also took a generous amount of time.

The Springbok - Hallmark Penguin Plunge jigsaw Puzzle is meant to be a challenge and only for those who have the patience for this type of jigsaw puzzle. For 500 pieces and 15 hours, it put my patience to the test indeed but so grateful it's done.

This being a Thrift store purchase, I am pleased all the pieces are available which is always like a little bonus.
